2022 Events and Festivities

If you’re going to be in Maui during the month of March, you may be wondering what (if anything) there will be to do, given the current/ongoing situation with COVID-19. Fear not - while events are still unusually vulnerable to cancellation due to safety concerns, there is still a rich plethora of events scheduled for March 2022.

Here is an introductory guide to some of the most intriguing March 2022 events and festivals in Maui. As usual (for now), we still recommend keeping a close eye on these as the scheduled dates approach.

Maui Pops Orchestra

To welcome the onset of spring, celebrated musical theater performer Sarah Uriarte Berry is returning to the Maui Pops Orchestra stage in March 2022.

This special afternoon performance will be a tribute to Judy Garland & Friends. The orchestra will be led by music director James Durham.

When: March 13th, 3PM - 5PM
Where: Castle Theater

A he Mano ke Kuanaike / A Thousand Words

The name of this unique event is a clue to its contents - they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

This photography exhibition is scheduled to begin on March 25th and will feature the camerawork of some Hawaii’s best photographers. The exhibition will be judged and is also accepting submissions from full-time Hawaii residents with work created in the past 2 years.

When: March 25th - May 13th, 9AM - 4PM
Where: Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center

Maui 5K

After missing a year for obvious reasons, the Maui 5K is back! If you don’t want to run 5 kilometers, you can instead participate in the untimed 1-mile run/walk. There is also an option to run virtually!

The purpose of this annual event is to fundraise for Maui schools. The event is set to be held for its 11th anniversary on March 6th and to run (no pun intended) from 7AM until 10 AM.

When: March 6th, 7AM - 10AM
Where: Maui Ocean Center

Polynesian Show at the Shops at Wailea

This ongoing biweekly event is set to continue through March. Both admission and parking are totally free, and the show is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30PM to 6:30PM.

The Polynesian Show showcases hula dancing and other traditional Polynesian dances, accompanied by live music.

By the way, in general, the Shops at Wailea are an excellent destination for events. On a weekly basis you can find anything from coconut husking to ukulele lessons happening here. We recommend checking out their event calendar (linked below) for more info.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30PM - 6:30PM
Where: The Shops at Wailea
