Event Tips for Visitors
Farmers Markets
Bring cash—most vendors don't take cards. Arrive early for the best produce. KCC Saturday Market on Oahu and Upcountry Market on Maui are the biggest draws.
Free Hula & Music
Waikiki has free hula shows at Kuhio Beach most evenings and at Royal Hawaiian Center on weekdays. No ticket needed—just show up with a towel or chair.
Festival Parking
Major events fill lots fast. Ride-share or hotel shuttles save the headache. For Merrie Monarch and Lei Day, book accommodation months in advance.
Cultural Protocol
Ask before photographing ceremonies or hula performances. Remove shoes when entering a heiau (temple) or if asked. "Kapu" signs mean restricted—respect them.
