For 11 days in mid-to-late August, Waikīkī Beach becomes an open-air stage for ocean sports. Duke’s OceanFest is the annual tribute to Duke Paoa Kahanamoku, with longboard heats, a one-mile ocean swim, SUP races, and a closing lei draping at the Duke statue, all within walking distance of the Royal Hawaiian. The 2026 edition runs August 14-24, timed to Duke’s birthday on the 24th. (Duke Kahanamoku OceanFest official site)
