As you travel south along Highway 31, the turnoff to Mokulau is just before mile marker 35 (makai side) and before the town of Kaupo. Turn left onto the dirt road leading toward the ocean. You will pass Hui Aloha Church and cemetery. Park along the road and then walk to the shoreline. From here, you can get some of the best views of the south east Maui coastline. There are also several lava outcroppings in this area. The Kaupo Store right beyond this stop (past the 35-mile marker) is your last place to pick up snacks before reaching Maui Wine near Highway 37.
