Plus, planning a Maui wedding is easy, as the wedding and permit process is a snap. Your biggest decision, of course, will be choosing the perfect beach to say ‘I do.’
In Maui, most weddings take place along the south and west shores, as these areas have the best sunset views; however, there are many stunning beach locations along the other shores, as well. Keep in mind the number of guests you plan to invite, the time of day you choose, and other personal preferences when choosing the best Maui beach wedding venue for you. Need some help narrowing down your options? Then check out our picks for the Top Beaches to Get Married on Maui.
Many couples think this beach seems to have it all. Expect beautiful white sand beaches, palm trees, lava rocks, and, of course, spectacular sunsets. You can even see the island of Molokai from the beach, making for some beautiful photographs. Kapalua tends to be more popular with those having a smaller, more intimate wedding.
Ironically, this very popular south Maui wedding location is also known as Secret Beach; but if you don’t mind some company, it’s a gorgeous spot. The quaint little white sand beach is framed by lava rocks on both sides and Molokai provides a beautiful backdrop. Keep in mind that because the sunsets here are so stunning, sunset weddings are also very popular. If you want the breathtaking scenery but more elbow room, so to speak, consider morning or midday wedding vows.
The perfect location for couples wanting a quiet and quaint ceremony, count on Polo Beach to provide a long stretch of soft sand, lava rocks, and colorful sunsets, and even some sand dunes located inland. Plus, it’s located in front of the Kea Lani Resort, so access is easy. And don’t think that just because it’s not as crowded as some of the other locations that it’s any less spectacular- it’s the perfect backdrop for your dream wedding. After the ceremony, take a romantic stroll along the path connecting Polo Beach and Wailea Beach.
Located near the Marriott Resort and Grand Wailea, Wailea Beach often ends up on many a ‘Top Beaches’ list. Picturesque views, clear waters, fine sand, and a paved beach walk make it an ideal beach to say ‘I do’. As an added plus, there’s a beautiful grassy hill overlooking the beach and many couples choose to hold their ceremony there.
Fronting the Andaz Maui at Wailea, Mokapu Beach provides picture-perfect Molokai views, breathtaking sunsets, palm trees, and lava rock outcroppings; the perfect recipe for great wedding photos. And, like Wailea Beach, there’s a lovely green hill that is a favorite of many couples.
Until relatively recently, this Po'olenalena Beach was known mostly to locals. The sunset views here are breathtaking and it tends to be less crowded in the evenings, as well. This makes it one of South Maui’s best wedding beaches. There are actually two sides to this beach: Po’olenalena, and the more private side commonly referred to as Chang’s Beach. The long, sandy stretch of beach provides lots of space for great photo memories.
Oneloa (Ironwoods) Beach
Although we hate to play favorites, Ironwoods Beach just might be our pick for the best Maui wedding beach. As one of the island’s most private beach areas, it’s a splendid location for an intimate ceremony. The beach features stunning rocky lava cliffs, making for an epic wedding venue. Meaning “long sand," Oneloa Beach encompasses about a quarter of a mile of pristine white sand and aqua blue waters. This location is also popular with couples who opt for a morning ceremony. Either way, Ironwoods is truly a gem.
So these are our choices for the Top Beaches to Get Married on Maui. And although your perfect Maui wedding beach may differ, one thing is certain: getting married on Maui is the absolute best way to walk down the (sandy) aisle.
