Seems like forever since the Renaissance Maui in Wailea closed. But since they shuttered the doors in 2007, the beachfront property had been used for that staging area for the Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler movie 'Just Go with It' in 2010 and for little else. The property has been shrouded by high hedges and was fast becoming overgrown and abandoned. However, this summer the Hyatt Corporation has breathed new life in to the prime oceanfront property and they have named it the Andaz Maui at Wailea. Upscale and modern and truly a world class resort, this luxury property is expected to open in July 2013 bringing a new stand or luxury to South Maui. The resort is located along 13on 15 acres fronting pristine Mokapu Beach sandwiched between the Maluhia and Wailea Elua condominiums along Wailea Ala Nui Drive. The resort will be showplace of comfort and oversized luxury. Andaz Maui will have 297 guest rooms and suites including seven two-four bedroom villas all with lavish bathrooms complete with garden view showers. The resort will feature 4 infinity pool with cascading waterfalls plus a peaceful adult pool. Andaz will bring dining to new heights in the Wailea Resort when Masaharu Morimoto opens his second Hawaii eatery. Masumoto Maui will bring an oceanfront setting and casual atmosphere when the restaurant opens in the fall. As of this writing, Andaz Maui still has yet to open, however, room reservations are currently being accepted.

After a long wait for this historic gem has finally reopened to offer island visitors spectacular accommodations and dining along the rim of the active Kilauea Caldera. First opened in 1846, the hotel has been the host to the rich and royal, the privileged and the presidential. Many islanders have fond memories of visiting this landmark hotel as a child that consist of seeing their very first fireplace and experiencing the chill in the air at an altitude of 4000 feet above sea level. But, the centerpiece of this experience is the opportunity to be able to spend a comfortable night within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and enjoy the spectacular views and attractions within the park until way after dark. Visitors can choose from any one of 33 newly renovated guest rooms with an option for rainforest or crater views or opt for the more adventurous guest cabins at nearby Namakanipaio Campground. Either way, each guest will delight in the experience of a truly unique hotel. One of the more spectacular experiences at Volcano House is the restaurant. The Rim the perfect place to soak in the views of glowing Halemaumau crater through the floor to ceiling windows while enjoying a creative menu of Big Island bounty of fresh fish, island produce and a traditional Volcano House hot buttered rum. Advance reservations for rooms, cabins and dining are all highly recommended.
