An exciting shift is coming to the island of Maui this October - most of the highlight events are taking place in Hana. 

As many of you will know, Hana is the legendary town at the end of the Road to Hana, arguably the most significant attraction in Hawaii. We recommend taking the Road to Hana, whatever month you visit Maui. However, in light of all that Festivals of Aloha has on the calendar for Hana in October, we can only double down on the recommendation.

2023 Events and Festivities

Events for Maui in October 2023 will be posted in the coming weeks. Typically, we'll update this page about six to eight weeks before the month in question. Below, you can review a summary of what happened within the last 12-18 months, as many of these Hawaii events are held annually.

2022 Events and Festivities

12th Annual Hawaii Food & Wine Festival

For its twelfth iteration, the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival begins in late October and continues for several weeks. Most of the events in October are taking place on the island of Maui, from Girls’ Night Out at Whalers Village to events hosted by Michelin Star winners at Royal Lahaina Resort.

Festivals of Aloha - Hana Hawaiiana Night

Hana Hawaiiana Night takes place just outside of Hana Bay Beach Park in the iconic eastern Maui town of Hana. This free event is definitely worth the trip across the island for a night of local food and live performances.

When: Friday, October 21st, 6 PM - 9 PM

Festivals of Aloha - Hana Ulu, Pohole & Poke Contest

Another event happening at the same time only a short stroll away from Hana Hawaiiana Night is the epic culinary event that is the Hana Ulu, Pohole & Poke Contest. The contest is judged by a panel of professional chefs and there will be recipes and demonstrations for the culinarily inclined as well.

When: Friday, October 21st, 6 PM - 9 PM

Festivals of Aloha - Hana Parade & Hoolaulea

The weekend before the poke contest and Hawaiiana Night, Hana will be the site of a parade and Hoolaulea. The parade will feature the Grand Marshall, Hana Royal Court, a marching band, and all kinds of cool vehicles including motorcycles and vintage cars.

When: Saturday, October 15th, 11 AM - 10 PM

Festivals of Aloha - Hana Sports Night

During the same weekend as the parade and Hoolaulea, Hana will become the epicenter of volleyball and tennis for the island as the sun sets. The event, as with the others, is open to the public and free, and there will be food booths along with various sports activities.

When: October 15th, October 16th, 4 PM - 9 PM
