As you will all know, Maui has just suffered the deadliest natural disaster in Hawaii’s history - the catastrophic Lahaina wildfire. Would-be visitors are apprehensive, and public dialogue has grown tense as pre-existing acrimony about tourism has boiled over.

Though some in the pop culture sphere have been spreading a disinviting message to visitors, the clear message from Maui County is that “respectful travel” strictly to the unaffected areas of the island is not only acceptable but encouraged.

After all, most of the island remains thankfully intact - and so too remains the reliance of local businesses on visitors.

What follows is a guide to some of the events and festivals coming to the unaffected portions of Maui in October 2023.
