Pe'e Pe'e Falls
Pe'e Pe'e Falls (pronounced Peh-eh Peh-eh Falls) is fed by the Wailuku River which also feeds Rainbow Falls further down river. From the overlook area, you can get a partial view of the falls, depending on the flow.
Getting an up-close view of Pe'e Pe'e is unfortunately no longer permitted; there are several closure signs prohibiting individuals from rock skipping up to the falls. You may be fined or ticketed if you proceed beyond the signage.
The flow of the falls, as seen from the overlook area, is determined by rainfall. The multi-spouted falls fills up a small pool at the base. Beware of mosquitoes.
Take the right fork after Mile Marker 1 on Waianuenue Avenue in downtown Hilo and follow the signs to Rainbow Falls. Continue past Rainbow Falls for approximately one mile to Peepee Falls. There are restrooms at the park.
