The Prince Kuhio Park is a monument to Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole who was raised in Koloa. Had Hawai'i not been annexed to the United States, he likely would have reigned as king. Instead he was elected as a congressional delegate for Hawai'i for 10 consecutive terms. He was known as a tireless champion of Hawaiian culture and is so revered that his birthday, March 26, is a state holiday. The foundation of his home and fishpond are protected in the park. It is very well maintained with a pleasant view of the ocean.
