Charley Young Beach
Kihei Maui
Welcome to Charley Young Beach
Stretch your legs with a stroll along the wild and natural Charley Young Beach, which offers plenty of soft sand and beauty.
Overview of Charley Young Beach
Standing guard at the northern tip of Kihei's Kamaole 1 beach is Charley Young Beach, a sheltered 3-mile park. The beach is named after the late Charley Young, a former landowner whose property led to the beach.
The sandy shore lies between the blue-green waters of the Pacific and a row of residential homes. The sand is golden and fine-textured, and you can swim right into the ocean without worrying about stepping on rocks or coral. As such, the local population loves this beach! Locals and visitors alike appreciate the relaxed atmosphere here.
Directions to Charley Young Beach
Located at the north end of Kamaole I Beach on South Kihei Road, we recommend driving down Pi'ilani Highway. Keep your eyes peeled for Alanui Ke Alii Parkway. Turn right onto South Kihei Road, go two blocks, and turn left onto Kaiau Pl. Immediately on your right, you can park. Then, head down this street until you encounter the pathway that faces the beach.
Essential Tips for a Charley Young Beach Visit
Parking your car at this beach is a bit challenging, and the closest parking lot is a block away. To simplify the process, we recommend that one party member double-parks at one of the three loading zones to unload your beach gear. The three designated loading zones sit at the end of Kaiau Place at the top of the stairs leading to the beach. After unloading your gear, your party member can drive to the parking lot while you wait for them to return.
Charley Young Beach Amenities
Unfortunately, there are no lifeguards on duty. Yet you can find portable toilets and showers. Fortunately, the Ironwood trees at this end of the beach offer plenty of valuable beach shade.
