The unusually dark 2026 Perseid peak is over. The American Meteor Society lists the next peak as the night of August 12–13, 2027, with the shower active from July 17 through August 24. The moon will be about 84% illuminated at the peak, so faint meteors will be harder to see than they were in 2026.
If a 2027 Hawaiʻi trip already overlaps the shower, keep one night flexible rather than choosing a remote location months in advance. The best visitor plan combines the current peak forecast, moon timing, island weather, legal opening hours, and an alert driver for the return.
