2023 Events and Festivities

808 Day

This is it for Big Island visitors wanting an event that checks all the boxes. 808 Day celebrates high-quality live music, authentic local food, and positive energy. 100% of the ticket sales go to charity, and 10% of vendor sales go to charities of their choice. VIP tickets are also available, adding perks like a private lounge, bar, luau, and game lounge, and there is an afterparty at My Bar in Kailua-Kona.

When: Saturday, August 5th, 3 PM - 10 PM
Where: 74-5617 Pawai Pl, Kailua-Kona
More Info: The 808 Day

Volcano Farmers Market

Volcano Village is worth visiting, no matter what. The opportunity to explore one of Hawaii’s coolest and most unique farmers' markets while you’re there is even better. Flowers, herbs, tons of locally grown food, and many arts and crafts abound here. Any Sunday morning spent here is a morning well spent.

When: Sundays, August 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, 6 AM - 10 AM
Where: 19-4030 Wright Rd, Volcano (Cooper Center)
More Info: Cooper Center Farmers Market

Keauhou Farmers Market

For those looking to shop on Saturdays instead - and those looking for a bigger market - Keauhou Farmers Market on Ali’i Dr is the premiere option. No less than 100% of the diverse products on offer here are locally made/grown, so it is an awesome way to support local farming and spend the weekend.

When: Saturdays, August 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, 8 AM - 12 PM
Where: 78-6831 Ali’i Dr, Kailua-Kona (Keauhou Shopping Center)
More Info: Keauhou Farmers Market

Pure Kona Green Markets

In close competition with Volcano for the most interesting town name, Captain Cook is also, like Volcano, home to a distinctive farmers market that is highly worth visiting. This is a great spot for local bread and some fresh and perhaps unfamiliar fruits. Once again, you’re supporting local farming - and Pure Kona Green Markets puts extra emphasis on sustainability, which is another plus.

When: Sundays, August 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, 9 AM - 2 PM
Where: 82-6160 Mamalahoa Hwy, Captain Cook (Visitor Center)
More Info: South Kona Green Market Facebook

Waimea Town Market

The Big Island is called so for a reason. If you’re up north in Waimea, a more accessible farmers market that is still a fantastic option is Waimea Town Market at Parker School. It’s all here - plants and flowers, pastries, artisan wares, and - how could anyone forget - coffee! This market also frequently features live music.

When: Saturdays, August 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, 27th, 7:30 AM - 12 PM
Where: 65-1224 Lindsey Road, Waimea (Parker School)
More Info: Waimea Town Market

We hope you find this a helpful starting place for booking your Big Island adventure in August. As always, mahalo, and best wishes for your visit!
