Kīlauea Episode 45 Starting — Fountains Expected This Week USGS raised Kīlauea to WATCH after precursory activity picked up on April 20 — strong glow and periodic spatter at both Halemaʻumaʻu vents, but sustained lava fountaining has not started yet. HVO forecasts fountaining between now and Sunday, April 26, with April 22 or 23 the most likely window. Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is open with viewing limited to designated overlooks. Vog may drift downwind on the Big Island.
