Maui Guidebook

My family and I wanted a easy to use guide for our vacation to Maui. Something with a lot of photographs and a lot of special attention to detail. MAUI MILE BY MILE delivered! The mile by mile directions are a tremendous help in navigating the major roads of Maui's highway system. We especially loved the road to hana drive and the drive "beyond." They were real treats that I feel certain we'd have not experienced to the level we did without the aid of this guide. Even our son, who never leaves the house or his computer, loved the short hikes on the road to hana. Wow! We took along three guidebooks on our trip, and this is the only one that delivered the way we had hoped. There is NO other guide on the market that offers a photograph of each and every spot they detail. Their ratings are also right on the mark. We were fortunate in that we had enough time to stop and visit each stop, and sure enough, they never steered us wrong. If they said it was a good stop, it was. If they said it was a poor stop, sure enough, if was. Excellent guide book for Maui's major highways. I wouldn't leave home without it and I can only hope they produce more of these guides for the other islands of Hawaii.

I honestly think that of all the Maui guidebooks I purchased (Frommer's, Rough Guide Mini, Trailblazer, and Maui Revealed - hey, I'm thorough) that Maui mile by mile was the most easy to use. It's not all-inclusive like some other guides (revealed/frommer's) but it's great for travelers on the go. The book really only covers the drives for the east side of the island, but that's where you're likely going to spend most of your trip anyway. The few spots they do detail on the western side of the island sufficed in my opinion, and will for most other travelers too. They definitely don't cover the touristy stuff, which I personally liked. Some guidebooks are big tourist traps; this isn't one of them. We discovered a lot using their mile by mile instructions I'm sure we'd have missed otherwise.

The book isn't as long or wordy as some other guides, like Frommer's, but when you're on vacation, having a quick and easy to use guidebook is essential. Maui mile by mile was our quick reference of choice.

We just returned from our trip to Maui and traveling with a almost 3 year old down the Road to Hana would not have been nearly as easy had we not had this book. It told us every picture and potty stop we needed to know and all of those that we did not need to stop for!! It also did us wonders making the trip up Haleakala! If it has 5 stars you better stop because they don't rate it 5 stars for nothing! Those are the AWESOME sites to see!! Maui is Awesome and this book made our trip all the better!!

The Main sightseeing things are in east Maui and this book covers every inch of it!! As for the west side the book does not cover as much but that side of the island does not need as much explanation. It is very easy to get around! IF you are going to Maui to see all the beautiful things Hawaii is about be sure to get a copy of this book!!
