Please join us for a relaxing stay in old time Hawaii. Moonlight Garden Bed & Breakfast is located in the historic village of Keokea at about 3,000 feet on the slopes of Mount Haleakala, where the air is fresh and cool and the panoramic views spectacular.
Your hosts, Anne and Marvin, are long time residents of Maui. In fact,Marvin who was born on Oahu, was raised in Wailuku. In those days the Keokea farm was the family's mountain retreat. Marvin is a scientist with special interest and knowledge (which he loves to share!) of Hawaiian native flora and fauna. Anne, who was raised overseas in Australia and England, is an artist and avid gardener. The last member of the family is Tia, our happy little "poi" terrier. Please join us and enjoy the lush surroundings, the gentle bird song and clear, clean air of upcountry Maui. Until then, "a hui hou ka kou."
We are about a half hour's drive from the airport and beaches. Haleakala National Park is conveniently located about 45 minutes from Moonlight Garden and is definitely a "must see" on any visitor's list. The area around Keokea is a delight for country walks or more strenuous hikes with plenty of excellent bird watching opportunities and places of historic interest.
The picturesque village of Keokea has two small "Mom & Pop" stores, two churches and a coffee shop selling Keokea grown coffee. Beyond Keokea is the Ulupalakua Winery and Ranch and beyond that the spectacular hidden side of Haleakala with views of the great lava flows of the last century reaching all the way to the sea. This is the "back road" to Hana.
