Kalama Beach

A beautiful, secluded beach near Kailua Beach Park in Kailua. You won't find the same crowds here as you will at Kalama's neighboring beach, Kailua. Kalama's gentle waves make it a great beach for beginner surfers and body boarders. Plenty of shady spots offer an escape from the sun.

It is possible to walk to Kalama from Kailua as they share the same stretch of sand. They also share a view of the Mokulua islands. There are no lifeguards, but the lovely park offers a picnic area, restrooms and showers. Parking is available off Kalaheo Avenue.

Watch out for the Portugese Man-of-War (jellyfish) and stinging limu (seaweed) especially from June through September.
