Haena Beach Park

Kauai Beach

Haena Beach Park This beautiful, golden sand beach is great for lounge but offers dangerous swimming conditions. Strong currents, rip tides, crushing shore break and a steep drop off shore make a bad mix for a relaxing swim. The surfing can be good, but it's only for the experienced.
Swimming aside, Ha'ena is very popular with locals and visitors alike for the great beach and camping opportunities. There is a lifeguard tower, but sometimes no lifeguard so swim at your own risk. Restrooms, showers and picnic tables are available.

This area served as a scenic backdrop in the movie South Pacific, making famous the 1,280ft cliff/ridge now known as 'Bali Hai' or Makana Ridge, meaning "gift," in Hawaiian.

Ha'ena Beach Park is located on Highway 560 west near mile marker 9. Parking is makai (towards the ocean). A great shave ice and smoothie vendor usually sets up in the parking lot, so be sure to stop by.
