Central Kauai

By now you've likely come to realize that Kaua'i is an island that dares to be discovered but is not always easily revealed. At the same time you've likely come to appreciate the meaning of words like "hidden gem" and "natural treasure," as Kaua'i is certainly full of both. All four of Kaua'i's main regions can be easily accessed by the primary road encircling the island. At least all those places are "pretty easy" to reach compared to accessing central Kaua'i. With no roads heading into the middle of the island, your only chances to see this mystical part of the island are by air or by foot.

For those daring enough to visit Wai'ale'ale on the east, then you'll already have a taste of what central Kaua'i has to offer. In reality, the "blue hole" of Wai'ale'ale is in central Kaua'i, but the only way to access it is via a road in east Kaua'i, thus we classify it there. But "blue hole" is as far into central Kaua'i as you'll venture by vehicle, and even then you'd better expect to hike a bit to get the best views into the crater.

Central Kaua'i is the untouched, undeveloped, and all-to-often unseen part of the garden isle. So if you're looking to discover this part of Kaua'i, plan ahead and book a helicopter tour because it really is your best option.
