A Hawaiian Holiday
With four islands to choose from it's hard to know where to start the perfect, Hawaiian holiday. Sure Oahu has the big mountains and bustling tourist spots, Kauai may boast some of the most impressive beaches around, but if it's top notch cuisine that you're after look no further than Maui. You can't visit Hawaii without tasting the islands' speciality- fish. And what could be better than sinking your teeth into some delicious seafood dishes at Mama's Fish House? Founded in 1973, this restaurant is immensely popular. The Polynesian Ono is one of their most famous dishes and is marinated in true Hawaiian style with lime and coconut milk. Right by the ocean and only a small drive from Kahului airport, this should not be missed. Gannon's Pacific View restaurant is another spectacular place to eat. Their famous Red Bar serves exquisite cocktails such as Ocean Mist (a blend of vodka, lime and guava). The menu shapes up pretty well too. A crab, lobster and tomato tower anyone?
A bit of privacy and true sophistication may be what you are looking for from your trip to Maui. If this is the case, the Kula Lodge and Restaurant is the place for you. Hidden amongst the mountains in Maui's upcountry, the views are simply spectacular. The restaurant is open for dinner between 4 and 9pm and dishes such as Mango baby ribs and crab stuffed prawns can be found on the diverse menu. As well as stunning, romantic, mountainous restaurants, Maui offers award winning sushi at the Sansei Sushi Bar in Kihei. While a little pricey, the sushi is undoubtedly to die for and is money well spent!
If you're on a budget yet still want those spectacular views and attentive service, why not eat at the Plantation House in Kapalua? With beautiful interiors, award winning wines and fresh, Hawaiian delicacies, the Plantation House is certainly fantastic value for money. For something a little more familiar the Casanova Italian Deli could be to your taste. Live entertainment and authentic, Italian cuisine are all served up at one of Makawao's liveliest restaurants. Buzz's Wharf Restaurant is another departure from traditional, Polynesian food and serves American cuisine with plenty of island flavours. Situated in Ma'alaea Small Boat Harbour, this popular restaurant is open for daily for lunch and dinner.
So there you have it. Maui is without a doubt, a haven for memorable and simply delicious dining experiences. Nowhere else in Hawaii can you find such traditional, diverse and award-winning cuisine. I'll say aloha to that any day.
